Located in Fulton County and at the opposite end of former Atlanta & West Point Railroad, hence the origin of the city’s name, this town is southwest of Atlanta. Known for its prime location, with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and downtown Atlanta just a short drive away, this city has an atmosphere that many cities envy.

  • Downtown East Point. Filled with great dining and a mix of shops, Downtown East Point is a local favorite. Be sure to stop by Oz Pizza, Taco Pete, Matilda Bean Burrito, Silk Smoothie Café, Beauty Town Fashion, Trendettas Apparel and Psycho Sisters Hollyhood.
  • Lov’n it Live. “Food for the body, mind and soul,” this eclectic vegetarian restaurant is well worth the price and is raved about all over town. Menu items include stuffed avocado, kale salad, nachos, battered bellas, mushroom steak, sage burger and sweet and sour marinated vegetables.
  • Camp Creek Marketplace. This complex has everything a shopper could need, ranging from fitness centers, restaurants and boutiques. Favorite places include Publix, Target, LA Fitness, Chic-Fil-A, DSW, TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Starbucks.

  • Thumbs Up Diner. Known for their friendly service and generous portions, this diner offers customers a great experience. Menu items include the skillet heap, southwestern eggs, tofu and veggies, grilled veggie bagel and sassy scramble.

Entertainment and Recreation

  • The Dick Lane Velodrome. Built in 1974, this volunteer based bicycle racing facility was inspired by the Munich Olympics. Experience the exciting world of cycling, and visit the Velodrome today!
  • Taste of East Point. Held the last Saturday in April, the Taste of East Point offers visitors local art displays, talented musicians and a delicious mix of wine and food.
  • Downtown Dinner Theatre. This theatre offers guests gourmet four course meals while they watch live performances. The Downtown Dinner Theatre is perfect for a date night or family outing and is available for special events as well.
  • Brookdale Park. A great place to take your dog for a walk and get some fresh air. This park offers visitors tennis courts, a basketball court, a creek, playground and a covered picnic area.
  • Washington Park. Home to a state of the art tennis center, natatorium and a great place to run, this park is a gem to locals.

Historical Attractions

  • Downtown East Point Walking Tour. Take East Point’s self walking tour and experience East Point’s history that dates back as far as 1847!
  • Bronze Historical Marker. Located at the base of the pedestrian bridge at Main Street and Cleveland Avenue, this marker acknowledges East Point’s founding and passing of the 1847 Act incorporating the Atlanta and LaGrange RR.
  • East Point Historical Society. A volunteer operated organization, this society educates the public on East Point’s past with a museum and archives. East Point Historical Society is free to the public.

  • Historic Industrial District. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, this district includes an array of late 19th and early 20th century mills and warehouses.
  • Central School. Visit East Point’s first public school, constructed in 1895. The school functioned until the 1920s when the city joined the Fulton County School System.
